Queen's Platinum Jubilee

Platinum Jubilee Celebrations – Friday 27th May

As we approach this significant celebration in our British History, we are keen to mark this event in school. During the week beginning 23rd May we will have a series of assemblies about the Queen and why she is an important part of our British history.

We would like the day to reflect having fun and learning together through a range of activities which we are sure all the children will enjoy.

The children are invited to wear red, white and blue on Friday 27th May to celebrate the Jubilee. As part of Hamwic Education Trust, we have also been asked to have a non-uniform day on the same day to raise money for the Hamwic Foundation. We ask that the children therefore make a donation of £1 towards the Foundation. I have attached a flyer which shares the fabulous work that they undertake to support pupils.

To further the celebrations, we aim to have a whole school picnic on the field at lunchtime. Therefore, we ask if children can bring a picnic lunch. For children who have hot school lunches, we have asked Chartwells to provide a packed lunch instead. If you do not wish for your child to have a Chartwells packed lunch, please can you cancel the lunch for this day. However, if your child is going to have a Chartwells packed lunch and you would like to supplement it with a few treats, you are more than welcome to do this.

Each class will also take part in a range of team games and Jubilee themed activities to mark this special day.

The Friends of Henbury have also very kindly arranged and paid for Bugfest to come into school on this day to provide the children with a close-up encounter with a range of mini beasts. Each class will have a workshop during the day.
