Transfer to Other Schools

Children transfer to Middle School in the September following their ninth birthday. Whilst there is an element of parental choice, our catchment link is with Lockyers Middle School.  At thirteen years of age, children transfer to Corfe Hills Upper School.  The Headteachers and other staff members of the schools within this pyramid meet regularly for planning meetings.

Admissions Arrangements

Parents of prospective pupils are welcome to visit the school prior to their child’s admission.  We liaise closely to ensure that transition into school is made as easily as possible for the children. Children come to Henbury from many different pre-schools and we endeavour to visit all of these prior to your child starting with us.

Since September 1991, parents have had the right to request a place in the school of their choice, regardless of whether the preferred school would normally serve the area in which they live. Governors have agreed to follow the New Admissions Policy set down by Dorset County Council. Parents have a right of appeal if refused a place at the School.

Requests for admission for children living outside the catchment area of the school should be addressed to:

The Admissions Section, Children’s Services, Dorset County Council, County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester DT1 1XJ Tel: 01305 251000
